Areas of Practice
Environmental Law
There are two main aspects to environmental law, as practiced by McLellan, Brennan. The first being representing parties in civil matters, plaintiff or defendant, where damage has been done to one’s property through, for instance, pollution, such as an oil spill. We have practiced in this area and have the expertise to know how to represent litigants through the process. We know the intricacies of environmental litigation so as to be able to select the top experts and know what reports and expert opinions are needed to successfully prosecute or defend such a file.
Another area of environmental law includes representing those who have been charged under one of the various regulatory statutes, governing environmental concerns, such as the Fisheries Act or the Environmental Protection Act. Again, our knowledge of the litigation and criminal law processes, and of the various issues that arise in environmental matters place us in good stead to give good representations to those accused under these statutes or if requested to represent the Minister in prosecuting under the same statutes.
